This Asymmetrical basket is made on a willow hoop base and is handwoven with contrasting tones of Dicky Meadows willow and Buff willow. The woven sides feature a zigzag weave, French Rand and double French Rand. The handle is a waxed piece of stripped willow.
All the willow used in the making of my baskets is grown in Somerset , either on my own smallholding or from Musgrove Willows on the Somerset Levels. It is harvested in the winter and treated using a combination of traditional and modern techniques to create a sustainable, beautiful end product suitable for weaving.
